Putting energy into human equivalent. The average human can sustain a power ouptut of 90 watts for 15 minutes, approx. 1/8th of a horsepower [ 746 watts ].

In order to find your MEp you need to use a piece of exercise equipment that will provide a watt readout (stationary bike, elliptical, treadmill, rowing machine, etc).

Start off at 90 watts to experience what the average human is producing in the way of power. When you are ready increase the resistance until you reach a watt level that you feel you can maintain for 15 minutes. The maximum watt level you can maintain for 15 minutes divided by 90 is your MEp. If you can maintain 135 watts then your would have an 1.5 MEp.
